Diana vs Holga

Toy camera vs toy camera. I’ve had a Holga for several years, but just got a Diana. And have only shot one roll through the Diana so far, but it’s loaded up with another.

First impressions: the Holga is simpler to load, and simpler to shoot….and, I got better results from the Holga. Not giving up on the Diana, it’s too early for that. Even if I find I prefer the Holga, I may keep the Diana around loaded with color film so I have that option available.

Image below. I only got 8 of 12 useable frames from the Diana, and all 12 from the Holga were relatively well exposed…for a toy camera with almost no exposure settings.

I’m not sure where the flare came from since it wasn’t in the Diana image, which was taken at the same time. I’m guessing the Diana lens is a bit better shielded from flare.

It’s this soft focus that kills me. I need to work on getting this “mid range” focus correct. Plus, there’s a bit of flare here that doesn’t help matters.
